DCD Accumulatori, Italy
Activity: Collection of used lead batteries
NACE: 90.00
DCD Accumulatori is a family-run micro-company that carries out the service of collecting used lead batteries, both automobile and industrial.
It is located in a countryside area devoted to agriculture in Molise, a Region in the South of Italy.
DCD collects with its own vehicles and temporarily stores the lead batteries, that are then sent on to the recycling plant. The company's environmental programme aims at addressing its main environmental impacts, i.e.
- vehicle air emissions generated during the collection of batteries;
- potential risks related to the discharge of dangerous waste materials, which could drop out from batteries and pollute water or soil, both inside or outside the companys boundaries; and
- energy consumption, in particular gasoline for vehicles and electricity (for which it will build a photovoltaic plant to reduce energy consumption from non renewable sources).
