EMAS: D-175-000087
NACE : 91.31, 75.1
This institution provides various services (information, training, advice, ethical guidelines, contacts
) to 1500 protestant church congregations in the Württemberg Land and employs about 60 people in its Stuttgart office.
The Evangelischer Gemeindedienst is both ISO 14001-certified and EMAS-registered.
It has been integrating sustainable development and an environmental approach into its ethical guidelines since 1988 and has started its first environment management system in 1997. It is leading the Church Environment Management Coalition of the European Christian Environment Network (ECEN).
Its environmental statements underlines the major multiplier role it can play for environmental protection. It therefore makes considerable efforts to inform and to train both its staff and its external interlocutors (with regular publications, seminars, internal information boards, email information messages etc).
It also focuses on saving energy (heating, transport, electricity), water and materials, as well as on improving its purchasing practises.
