Audit
What are internal audits?

Once a company has introduced a system for improving its environmental performance it is vital to make sure it is being used and that it works properly.

The process of checking this is called the internal audit. Almost everyone in an organisation will be part of an internal audit. As a result, the perception that most employees will have of the EMS will be based on their experience of the auditing procedures and your audit team.

Choose auditors and auditor training carefully. Auditing gets a bad name through bad auditors, not because it is in itself flawed. At its best, the internal audit can be one of the main contributors to continual improvement.
