Guide to developing an environmental statement

Prepare

1. Decide who does what

You need to decide who is responsible for:

  • writing the report
  • planning the report
  • co-ordinating preparatory work to be done by other employees

A team of representatives of different areas of the organisation, e.g. health and safety, environmental management, and environmental legislation should take responsibility for planning the environmental report, and organising its distribution. The group should not consist of more than six people. In order to maintain fluency of language, a maximum of two people from the team should take over the task of writing and/or the final editing of the contents and language.
