Ihobe achieves very positive results in its first gender equality diagnosis - 27 February 2012.

The public environmental management corporation was one of the first to conduct its Equality diagnosis in 2011.

The diagnosis carried out by Ihobe in 2011 concluded that the organisation's staff as a whole is balanced as regards distribution by gender, and that there is also equal pay between the sexes within the same professional category. These results will serve as a basis for the setting up of an Equality Plan in 2012 in line with the "5th Plan for Equality between Men and Women" of the Government of the Basque Autonomous Community (region).

The study has favoured this step forward in compliance with the requisites for Ihobe’s responsible governance. The end of 2011 saw compliance with over 72% of the requirements established in the “Guideline for the responsible governance of public sector organisations, companies and foundations in the Basque Autonomous Community” ("Guía para el gobierno responsable de los entes, sociedades y fundaciones del sector público de la Comunidad Autónoma de Euskadi"). So content like the Company Articles of Association published in the Responsible Governance (Gobierno Responsable) section on the www.ihobe.net website were, for example, made public.

Within the deployment of the Responsible Governance (Gobierno responsable) guideline is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, in which Ihobe has acted in areas like the corporation’s carbon footprint calculation, and the hazard evaluation of Ihobe personnel, including non-physical hazards.

The concept of Responsible Governance has arisen out of the merging between Corporate Governance and CSR, and it is a concept that covers a strategy for the governance, management and leadership of companies based on transparency, the management of impact on the surroundings, and the response to the expectations of interest groups.

Ihobe is one of the most advanced among the Basque Autonomous Community Government’s Public Corporations in this respect, and that is why during the last quarter of 2011 public administration representatives visited the organisation to get to know the way it is handling this sphere.
